  • What software do I need to run Recogink?
Firefox browser is the only software you need. If you want to upload files from your browser also Java Virtual Machine is needed (almost all PCs have already JVM pre-installed).
  • How long does it take to learn how to use Recogink?

Few minutes. There are two buttons to use on the Technote e-Pad (switch on/off and new page), one cable to plug in the pc with the e-Pad, then you have to open the e-Pad flash hard disk folder and attach the ink files (top or dnt) to an email and send them to a provided address. The recognition process will automatically send you back the recognised data to your email address in the form of an image (jpg or pdf) and a csv file (if recognition engine is activated for your account) for every ink file.

  • What type of software does Recogink Provide?

  • Can I ask Recogink to create a form as for my specific needs?

Yes. Although you will be provided with full capabilities of creating your own form within the FormCreator or FormBuilder we can provide specific services for you (see Services or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

  • Do I need a special paper to print the form/layout?

No. All you need is standard paper in the correct format, margins.

  • Can I print the forms/layout with my own printer?

Yes. All you need is standard paper in the correct format and with the correct margins.

  • Can I use M.S. Infopath to create the form and then use Recogink to fill it in?

Yes. Recogink is compatible with M.S. InfoPath, please contact us for more details.

  • How do i transfer the data from the e-Pad to my pc and to Recogink server to be recognised?

Simply plug the usb cable and look in the correct external hard disk folder for the dnt files generated by your handwriting. Attach them to an email and send it to the provided email address (that comes when you register for a free account).

  • How do the recognised data are sent back to me?

The recognised data, if provided by your type of account, are sent back to your email address (and to another one you may provide in the object field of the email) in two formats: an image file, jpg or pdf, showing the form filled in and a data file, csv.

  • Are my recognised data organised somewhere?

Yes. Your web account is a a web marketing database, researches and surveys can be taken across the collected data.

  • How can i access the data?

Beside receiving the email containing the recognised data, with your personal login you can access your recognised data through a web account hosted in a private area on www.Recogink.com

Images in pdf, jpg, svg or dxf format and data files in csv or xml can be downloaded.

  • Will I be informed when my space is about to end?

Yes. We will send an email informing you about it.

  • Do the account have an expiration date?

Yes. One year validity.

  • Where is the data stored?

In Recogink Solutions secured servers, collected data are treated only by Recogink servers.

  • Is my privacy respected?

Yes you will be the only one having access to your data and Recogink team in case of support issues. The contract we will sign with you will preserve the data privacy under strict rules.

  • What kind of Forms does Recogink manage?
Any plain paper form that is a: A4, A5, Letter Size Format, that will be laid on top of the respective e-pad format. The forms can be designed by Recogink experts or with the FormCreator and printed with the FormPrinter. Pre-printed forms can also be managed by the system by uploading with the UpLoader.
  • What printer do I need to print the forms designed in FormCreator?
Any printer. Just remember to put the correct margins space into the FormBuilder of FormPrinter in order to print the entire form and not to eliminate the borders of your forms. The Bubble jets require normally high-margins (15 mm) compared to the Laser ones (5mm). See the Help documentation for more specific information on this issue.
  • What is the accuracy rate for characters recognition?
The accuracy rate for characters recognition is of about 90% if the engine is set up with the training/dictionary module or at 80% for non-trained user writings.
  • What is the fuzzy search engine?
The fuzzy search engine allows you to find easily words or phrases in the entire Form Repository. In the event the recognition engine fails in some letters the Fuzzy engine compensate the loss of this information by finding the nearest possible word (no matter which letter of your word the recognition engine didn’t recognize) to the one you are searching. You can set the fuzzy engine to the error tolerance you want. The less tolerance you give the less chances you will have to find the recognized word. As the engine by average recognizes 85% of the letters (so it has a 15% error rate) it is a good practice to set the fuzzy engine to a 20% error tolerance.

  • What format do you use to store the images of the handwritings?
The master is a vector-format format called SVG, the most efficient format to view, zoom and manipulate the strokes handwritten on the form template. Depending on specific needs, the svg files are converted automatically into pdf, jpg, tiff and others common standards.
  • In what format does Recogink store the recognized data?
Recogink stores all the data into XML format, to be easily integrated with other IT systems. Depending on specific needs, the xml master file can be converted automatically into csv and other data formats.
  • Is there a Developer Recogink Version?

Yes. If you would like to use the main features such as the Recognition engine and other features into other Legacy Systems, Recogink This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.   • Can I use a keyboard to fill in Forms?
Yes. Recogink FormFiller allows filling in predefined digital (displayed on the pc screen) forms with standard keyboards.Recogink entitles costumers and users to fill in forms in any possible way by capturing all the collected data in a centralized way without having to customize the solution for the various input sources.
